BULLS EYE
Bulls Eye is a series of large-scale paintings exploring the cultural exchange between Jamaica and the United States, particularly through music, dance, and visual storytelling. Inspired by vintage comic book imagery and dancehall culture, the works resemble romanticised cinema posters that highlight the shared influences shaping both cultures.
The series pays homage to the stories of the artist’s grandparents and parents, who grew up anticipating imported comic books from the U.S. One key reference is the 1950s comic Bulls Eye by Simon and Kirby, which followed the adventures of a western sharpshooter. By reimagining these bold narratives through a Jamaican lens, Bulls Eye examines how global pop culture is absorbed, remixed, and transformed into something distinctly Caribbean.
